Yaxcopoil is undoubtedly the best known and most accessible henequen hacienda in the Merida Mexico area.
Hacienda Yaxcopoil has a splendid "Casa de Visitas" (guest house) beautifully restored for guests.
It has a large room, furnished with two double beds, electric fans, private bath, patio and parking space. A kitchen area is equipped with a refrigerator, coffee machine, chinaware and all the necessary utensils needed for a pleasant stay. Outside on the patio is a grill with pans in case you want to do your own cooking, and a kitchen sink so you can wash up.
The magnificent Hacienda Xcanatún-Casa de Piedra (meaning "tall stone house" in Mayan) was originally constructed in the mid 18th century as a classic hacienda dedicated to agriculture and livestock. Its colorful history included being owned by a notable local family before becoming one of the most important sisal-(“green gold”) producing haciendas in the region.
Located minutes from the center of Merida, Xcanatún had fallen into ruins, but after five years of restoration by the Ruz family this incomparable hacienda lives again. In this historic location guests can enjoy the comfort, quality and passion for detail that distinguish the best hotels of the world.
